About GrindWitTryz

Tryzen Patricio is the chef and owner of Hawaiian Local Style Street Food, GrindWitTryz in Portland, Oregon. His fiance Candace Lacuesta has worked with Tryzen for over 5 years and is a co-owner of GrindWitTryz. Both born & raised on the island of Oʻahu in the small town of Ewa Beach, they grew up in a local Filipino home where they learned to cook and execute dishes to their best perfections. After moving to Portland 8 years ago, they share their love for cooking immensely as it was a huge reminder of home to them.

Starting off their small business, they cooked meals for college students to make a little extra side money, however that grew to be much more. Doing a few pop ups here and there,  they finally opened their very first food truck in 2019 in NE Killingsworth and NE MLK St. They then later opened their very first brick and mortar in the midst of Covid. With many challenges, they cook with aloha to honor their culture & family and inspire others that with just one simple dish can make you feel right at home.

We are so honored & excited to be participating in this event because this is a perfect time to share our culture more! Filipino food isn’t the most favored food to some, but we are striving to be creative with our traditional Filipino dishes into something a bit more elevated than what we usually cook. We want everyone to not only love the food but love the culture as well.
